Paragard Faces Lawsuits for Misinforming Patients of IUD Risks

Paragard is facing a growing number of lawsuits related to its IUD.

In 2019, the U.S. F.D.A. informed the pharmaceutical company that its advertising was misleading and did not accurately inform patients of side effects.

Multiple women have filed lawsuits against Paragard for not informing them of potential health issues, including:

  • Uterine perforation,
  • Ectopic pregnancy, and
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease.

Many of these lawsuits were consolidated into multidistrict litigation in 2020.
